If you can not go to Germany with your busy schedules, no worries The Grand Hyaat Mumbai brings Germany to you! I was glad to attend the October Beer festival here where Consul Anja Klos, Consulate of Germany in Mumbai officially declared the #GrandOctoBierFest 2016 open. You will find Germanys biggest Food, Fun and Beer festival right here in the heart of our own city of Mumbai, at the Grand Hyatt hotel from the 14th to the 23 rd of October 2016.Join in the fun and cheer with the Oktobier fest tents authentically coloured in blue shades and wonderful atmosphere around..okto-bandoktober-fest-grp-1

The Musical band called Talbachbaum were resounding with energy and filled the ambience with good music and laughter which echoed all around. Believe me you cant get a better authentic German experience than this.

As the festival evening unfolded I enjoyed the traditional Oktoberfest tent atmosphere while savouring chef-crafted Bavarian delights, refreshing brews from around the world and foot-tapping music. I had finally found enough courage to dance to the bands instructions, bobbing up and down, and standing up and down, it was all so much fun, with the whole audience participating. It is a place where you can relax and sip the night away under the lush green gardens.

The best German culinary offerings were served up to everyone’s delight. German Pretzels, Obatzda; Chicken or Pork Wiener schnitzel, potato salad; Chicken Cheese or Pork Frankfurter mustard, fresh horseradish, oven fresh sour dough bread;Roasted Bratwurst mashed potatoes, sour kraut; Goulash Lamb Goulash with spätzle, German cold cut – cheese platter with a typical German Pumpernickel Bread and many more.

The Executive Chef Hermann Grossbichler and his team recreated the Bavarian culinary legacy with utmost care and passion for the guests saying, “ We are looking forward to a great week with everything authentically German and all that the Oktobeir festival can bring. Enjoy and relish the food and beer combinations.”

I enjoyed the freshly brewed craft beers including the Oktoberfest bier Marzen and more delightful brews on the tap.

I must share with you the history of the Oktoberfest,it is the world’s largest Volksfest beer festival and travelling funfair. Held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, it is a 16- to 18-day folk festival running from mid or late September to the first weekend in October, with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year. Locally, it is often called the Wiesn, after the colloquial name for the fairgrounds (Theresienwiese). The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, having been held since 1810. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations that are modeled after the original Munich event. The Grand Hyatt Mumbai did much justice to this world wide international festival. You can not afford to miss it.
